What did you think as soon as you saw me
Please tell me that I went about surprising your eyes
Was I in the right place at the right time
Or maybe you saw me & thought
He’s not my type
I mean… he’s fine
Either way
When I saw you that was it
I decided I’d met my match
Almost met
Reckoned you looked terribly fit
Watched you all night
From afar
I might have come over
But as time wore on I only ever peered at you from across my shoulder
A smaller than small lake between us as we drank our beer
Listened to the crowd cheer, sometimes jeer
A concert going on about the place
But it wouldn’t be wrong to say that it was those piercing eyes
That brought true delight on this particular night
