Don’t know what it was about him
But he appeared to be the saddest man in the whole wide world
Drinkin’ coffee, smokin’ cigarettes
Left with nothin’ but an alarmingly empty look of lifelong regret
Had lost all of his earnings
Piled atop an everlasting yearning for an ol’ flame
Peering skyward in utter disdain
This was what you would call dire disappointment
A crying shame
‘Cos he had so much to give in the beginning
Now there was no way to look but up
No such winning
& he had only himself to blame
