It’s not about anyone understanding what is going on for an ocd sufferer. It really is not. If you need to take yourself away from a situation at any time of overwhelm, then you do it. You often might well have to do it. People won’t ever understand that everything you know and love and do so very well and on automatic has been turned on its head(literally in this case) because of the imbalance. They don’t need to know the strictness of the structure of your particular disorder. They don’t need to know that more often than not your mind is being taken on an ungodly journey of BELIEVING SOMETHING WILL GO OUTRAGEOUSLY WRONG if you cannot sort out what that thing actually is. But more than that, they won’t get to ever understand and feel the utter mental discombobulation and level of pulsating and never-ending, nerve-shredding anxiety associated with your diagnosis. That locked-away from everything and everyone else feeling. When it all boils down to being a) an imbalance of the brain, and b) that brain searching in all of the wrong corners and angles for a final release of relief. Owing to the aforesaid imbalance informing them of such a thing to do. Do not ask a sufferer of ocd to explain ANYTHING. Just understand and accept that they are trying with all of their might in the world to somehow sit with an imbalance of brain so hectic and ill-at-ease and pulsating throughout and that, most probably, that is the best they can hope for. Quietness 😊That ‘sitting with it’ may be all that we can ever really hope to achieve, our personalities having to actually… sit it out in a different sort of way. One thing I do have to note is that much of what a sufferer has to go through with their day, week, month, etc… is done amidst a level of shooting questions and more and MORE pulsating and fear-filled questions inside of their brain – heaping and heaping themselves one atop another and never ending – which are NEEDING to be answered or else… . In fact, many people with severe ocd won’t ever have even been able to sit and enjoy a beer or two of an evening just for the sake of relaxing and unwinding. Unwinding is… most probably unknown to them. Truth is, we are sick to our bones with trying to merely survive, that’s all, really.
