The utter need for an artist to ‘destroy’ their art must be something in them that tells them: screw it, I wanna go again. I’ve hit my peak of style for now… let’s go again. But this is where the back-catalogue of any artist counts for everything; if there is no proof of talent in the first place and it’s just a shit-show from the beginning, well then, I’m not so much a fan of that. This art-piece for instance: the talent is blatantly obvious, and I do wonder why the artist chose to submerge themselves in a sense of… not-giving-a-shit-anymore, or at least that is probably how many observers may see it. Amateur observers perhaps. Whereas, it’s fairly obvious to me that this was planned-out from the beginning of the piece. Or maybe not 🤷‍♂️ Love it. Utter self-confidence. Love the Don’t-Give-A-Toss attitude when, really, they definitely do give all of the tosses in the world. You absolutely do choose to become submerged in certain art styles yourself. And, yeah, it’s definitely progressive as time goes by and you let yourself entirely feel it. And to feel it, for me at least, is to definitely connect with an artist. Just how it is. No spiritual crap, just letting yourself be momentarily consumed by it. Unfortunately, when explaining art of any kind, the emotive words that have to be used tend to scare people off
