I guess the killer too with the OCD is that I know I could sit down and explain it to anyone that I know, my family, friends, etc. and all that would come of it is… “yeah, we know. We understand it is a chronic anxiety disorder and that you’re trying your very best.” And on with our days we go, only the OCD sufferer all too often falls into that tried and tested pattern a million times over of “I have to sort this out once and for all, or else… .” And the rest? A landscape of mental imbalance that leaves the sufferer completely out of the loop of normal, necessary thinking, and the rest is, well, utter… distortion of the mind and brain amidst utter, UTTER paralysing fear and dread which they cannot stop, let alone comprehend. Why can’t we comprehend it? Because it’s illogical and caught in a loop. It really is ENTIRELY everything the sufferer does not stand for, and that cannot be stated enough times. But we have to live with it, that distraction of our real selves. Have to somehow learn to ‘turn off’ or slow down a mental imbalance that not even the medical profession know how to truly understand. And we do try. Harder than a person studies to learn and hopefully become, say, a pilot, for example. It does take that level of resolve. THAT level of focus. And,, all along, we can only hope that people can just… be okay with it, because that is all that we are also trying to do with it. To be okay. 😊
