Ocd makes it a helluva lot harder to do the things which most people might, at worst, feel rather caught-up and a tad bit overwhelmed about. This exhibition I’m having after a holiday to Spain next week with my family – I do know that all I really gotta do is sort the exhibit out from A-Z in terms of the promotion, the poems to read-out on opening night, teaching the chosen people how to read the poems I’ve asked them to read on that night, etc, etc. And all the rest… . And.. of course to enjoy my holiday too. Busy is really good for me but ocd, as I say, really can shuffle it all up inside of your head and that can be a little big bit rotten, especially when these are all things that I want to do, and what’s more, to the best of my ability which can be threateningly limited quite often, I suppose you’d have to say. So anything I might’ve missed, mostly it will have been to do with the ongoing nature of the ocd. But you keep going. It’s eerie, it’s rather lonesome at the best of times, and it’s definitely.. utterly undeserving. But you do it, you have to, really, it’s all there is to do. To settle something most people honestly would have no idea or clue how to handle, to tell the truest truth there is in me. I’m excited about the exhibition, to get my name and words out there as best I can manage. I always think it’s gonna be like a duck-to-water kinda thing for me with these kinds of nights but it will, again and as always, probably get extremely nerve-wracking. Nerve-wracking is absolutely fine by me, actually. But to know that you’ll yet again be standing in a room, maybe filled, maybe not, with good and seriously supportive people, whilst still trying to hold it comfortably together inside of your head is… a bit of a bitch all on its own. I just really hope that it won’t feel like such a juggling act this time for me, is all. You may as well not be there when that’s happening. But it’ll be good, I think I know that much 😊 And, of course, cheers to @greyheronwestcork so much for having me in over the month of November-December. Let’s play!! 😊 👍
