The level of mental toil for an OCD sufferer is… ludicrous. No one sees it and that makes it all the harder. But why should we feel this utter need to explain the pain away? Maybe, as well as owing to many other things, because our brain actually keeps forgetting the last attempt it may have just made at neutralising the false message of anxiety. Such is the level of imbalance happening inside of the brain for said sufferer. And on it goes again, and again. But the level of mental pain is… prolonged (seemingly forever in many, many, many sufferer’s cases) and, what is more, pulling their thoughts inwards and BEGGING them to FIX WHAT IS WRONG!! Nothing to do with what is happening around them whatsoever. Never, really, and certainly not in so far as my disorder goes. Based on an utter, utter falsity of CONstant (and it is one-billion-percent A CON!!) FEAR firing in the brain’s mechanisms. Another problem. And, yes, the problems are indeed aplenty. But the outsider never gets to see a) what is happening in the sufferer’s mind and at any time, and b) the sufferer sure-as-shit on a lopsided pogo-stick cannot even begin to truly explain it to anyone else, maybe even let alone themselves. How do you actually go about describing a level of such intense and chronically mind-destroying mental anguish to anyone else? Maybe it’s not entirely left on deaf ears but it will feel… a waste of time and of no real significance to the sufferer in the long run anyway. That’s lonesome for the sufferer. Penetratingly so, as well as bothersome as hell, of course, for family members and friends etc., but it’s also extremely worrisome for the sufferer’s mentality because, whilst no-one else can, as stated, see it while it’s happening – that loop-cycle of instantaneous anxiety AND problem-solving OR ELSE!!! – the sufferer will start to inevitably feel as if people just think they are skiving-off, when all that they will undeniably be doing, really, is getting themselves unknowingly, really, in so far as the correct working parts of their brain set-up can tell, caught in the OCD loop-cycle yet again. And all of this wreckage owing to a futile attempt at, let’s call it, fanning the flames 👊
