I don’t think there necessarily need be any opinion on a writer’s part- maybe it’s just pent up energy trying to settle its own state of mind, I’m thinking. But, I do see and understand just why their quotes last the test of time. And, often, uttered in films when the character really does appear to have been on their last legs. What they have done is simply(or not so simply, in fact) utilised far more.. poetically enhanced words and, therefore, while it’s a tad big bit.. OTT. for many to stomach in full blown poems, if you really analyse these writer’s works, it’s this mix-up between their utter deepest beliefs and rhythmic intelligence. People appear to need rhythm.
